Da Nang International Airport announced the implementation of digital identification for check-in procedures for Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air passengers on domestic flights. Passengers only need a level 2 VNeID account and the latest version of the app to use the service, eliminating the need for physical identification documents.
The three-step process involves: checking in via the VNeID app on a personal phone or at a support counter; facial verification at the security checkpoint equipped with a biometric system; and final verification at the boarding gate. If the verifications match, the gate automatically opens, allowing passengers to board without presenting physical documents or interacting with staff.

This is the first time biometric technology has been applied at Da Nang Airport, reducing wait times, minimizing contact, and enhancing security. However, passengers are still advised to carry their national identification cards or passports in case of system malfunctions.
An airport representative stated that the Face ID application is part of the "smart airport" development plan and will be expanded to other airlines and international routes in the future.
Previously, on 16/4 and 17/4, Vietnam Airlines collaborated with the Police Department for Administrative Management of Social Order (C06 - Ministry of Public Security) and Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) to successfully test the biometric check-in process at Noi Bai Airport's T1 terminal and Tan Son Nhat Airport's T3 terminal.
