Da Vien islet, spanning approximately 10.5 hectares on the Perfume River, is bisected by the North-South railway. Originally an alluvial landmass, it once hosted elephant and tiger fights during the Nguyen dynasty. Thua Thien Hue province previously planned for Da Vien islet to include accommodations (around 120 garden houses) interspersed with landscaped gardens.
According to the new detailed plan for the Perfume River's banks, Da Vien islet will become a multi-purpose cultural area without accommodations. Buildings will feature traditional designs, preserving historical values and harmonizing with the landscape.
