The Dinh Khao Bridge project, a crucial infrastructure development for the region, is set to break ground on 19/12. With a total investment exceeding 2,852 billion VND, the bridge aims to significantly improve transportation and connectivity in the Mekong Delta. The Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee announced the project will be implemented under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) in a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) contract, with the Provincial Transport Project Management Board serving as the investor.
The bridge and its connecting route will span 4.3 km. The route begins from provincial road 902, near the national highway 57 bypass in Nhon My commune, and concludes at national highway 57 in Phu Phung commune. The main bridge section, crossing the Co Chien River, will be over 1.5 km long and 17.5 m wide, featuring four lanes designed for a speed of 80 km/h.

The substantial investment for the Dinh Khao Bridge project includes nearly 613 billion VND allocated for compensation, support, and resettlement, while construction costs are estimated at over 1,645 billion VND. The entire project is anticipated to take three years to complete.
The Co Chien River, a branch of the Tien River, stretches over 80 km and naturally delineates the boundaries between Vinh Long, Ben Tre, and what was formerly Tra Vinh. Upon its completion, Dinh Khao Bridge will become the second bridge to span the Co Chien River, replacing the existing ferry service. This development is expected to significantly reduce travel times, alleviate traffic congestion, and enhance links between national highways 57, 53, and national highway 1, fostering greater regional integration.

This project follows the successful completion of the Co Chien Bridge 10 years ago. That bridge, connecting Ben Tre and Tra Vinh, began operations with an investment of 2,300 billion VND and measured nearly 1.6 km long. Its opening notably shortened the journey from TP HCM to Tra Vinh and Soc Trang by approximately 70 km, demonstrating the transformative impact of such infrastructure on regional travel.
