Dong Thap uses AI to assist with administrative procedures

The Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee has approved the Department of Science and Technology's proposal to deploy an AI assistant to support and advise people and businesses on administrative procedures.

The virtual assistant software for the administrative procedure resolution information system has been integrated into the Dong Thap electronic information portal, the component websites of departments, agencies, and localities, the province's specialized websites, and the provincial administrative procedure resolution information system.

These virtual assistants will support and advise residents, officials, and public employees on administrative procedures. The installation and trial operation period runs until 30/6, with official implementation starting on 1/7.

After a week of piloting the new commune-level administration, all 45 communes and wards in Dong Thap Province have trialled the public administrative service center, with 32 points for receiving applications and returning results.

The commune-level public administrative service center receives applications from organizations and individuals, transfers them to the competent authorities for processing, and receives the results to return to the applicants within the prescribed processing time for administrative procedures.

The administrative procedure resolution information system has been operating to exchange electronic documents and connect and share information and data, ensuring smooth and uninterrupted operation.

In addition, most of the new commune administrations in Dong Thap have prepared draft working regulations, work programs, draft proposals for establishing specialized agencies under the commune-level People's Committee, draft regulations on functions, tasks, powers, and organizational structure of specialized agencies, and plans for renaming hamlets and villages. They are continuing to monitor, update, and complete these drafts as new regulations and guidance from the central government become available.

Despite initial challenges, local authorities have actively and promptly taken the lead in preparing conditions for the operation of the new commune-level administration.

Departments and agencies regularly monitor and provide timely guidance, helping localities resolve difficulties, obstacles, and confusion in implementation.

In 2024, Dong Thap Province's Provincial Governance and Public Administration Performance Index (PAPI) continued to be among the top 8 leading localities nationwide in content indicators (environmental governance) and maintained its position for 7 consecutive years from 2018 to 2024.

Last year, the province's 2024 PAPI score was 43.84 points, a 2.52 point increase, ranking 5th out of 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta region.

The former Dong Thap Province had 141 communes, wards, and towns. After the rearrangement, there are 45 commune and ward administrative units. The new Dong Thap Province, based on the merger of Dong Thap and Tien Giang provinces, will have 102 commune-level administrative units, including 82 communes and 20 wards.
