Driver apprehended after 10km chase following hit-and-run

After colliding with a pickup truck and an electric bicycle, Hoang Tan Luc fled the scene and was pursued by bystanders, eventually being stopped 10km away on July 10th.

Around 11:00 am, 28-year-old Luc was driving a car from Dak Lak towards Lam Dong on National Highway 27. Upon reaching Tan Lap ward, his car suddenly struck a pickup truck driven by 40-year-old Dang Van Lich.

Luc's car then collided with an electric bicycle ridden by 11-year-old Luong Ngoc Bao Han. Luc drove away but was chased by bystanders who apprehended him and handed him over to the Tan Lap ward police.

Han was injured and taken to the Tay Nguyen Regional Hospital. All three vehicles were severely damaged, with the front of Luc's car crushed. The estimated property damage is around 30 million VND.

According to police, the accident was caused by Luc failing to maintain a safe distance. Both pickup truck drivers tested negative for alcohol and drugs.
