Thinh, 51, residing in Lai Khe commune, Hai Phong city, was urgently detained by the investigation police agency, Hai Phong Police, to investigate the cause of a serious accident that occurred on the afternoon of 22/12.
According to police, at approximately 15h, Thinh was driving a container truck on national highway 5, traveling from Hanoi to Hai Phong. Upon reaching km 45+500, near Tu Minh ward, he collided with the rear of a truck ahead.
The forceful impact triggered a chain collision involving six other vehicles ahead, including two container trucks, two trucks, and two passenger cars. As a result, many vehicles sustained heavy damage, two people died at the scene, one person was seriously injured, and national highway 5 experienced prolonged congestion for several hours.

Doan Van Tai, a resident of Tu Minh ward and a witness to the accident, stated that the line of vehicles was stopped at a red light when Thinh's vehicle unexpectedly crashed into them from behind.
Following the accident, authorities arrived at the scene to manage traffic flow and transport the injured for emergency treatment. Alcohol and drug tests conducted on the involved drivers revealed no violations.
The Hai Phong City People's Committee is providing 50 million dong in support to each family of the deceased victims and 30 million dong to each injured person.
