Driver fined for 'Happy Wedding' license plate cover

A driver using a "Happy Wedding" sign instead of a license plate on the Phap Van - Cau Gie expressway was fined 23 million VND, had 6 points deducted from their license, and had their vehicle impounded.

On the evening of 18/8, Expressway Traffic Police Team No. 3, Division 6, Traffic Police Department, reported that the male driver of a Hyundai Santafe was penalized for displaying an improper license plate.

Earlier that day, the traffic police received a public report of a car traveling from Ninh Binh to Hanoi with a "Happy Wedding" sign covering the rear license plate. In addition to obscuring the license plate, the vehicle was reportedly weaving erratically, endangering other road users.

The driver was subsequently stopped and admitted to the violation.

The Traffic Police Department urged road users to comply with regulations on vehicle registration, management, and license plate usage to ensure traffic safety and order.

According to Decree 168/2024, using devices to flip license plates, attaching improperly formatted plates, blurring or altering digits, or using different materials to paint or cover license plates results in a fine of 20-26 million VND, along with a 6-point deduction from the driver’s license.
