Elderly woman dies after entering forest with husband near Ho Chi Minh City

Nguyen Thi Lung, 69, died in Binh Chau - Phuoc Buu Nature Reserve after five days of losing contact with her family while picking leaves with her husband.

On 7/5, a representative from the Xuyen Moc Commune People's Committee announced that authorities found the body of Ms. Lung, a resident of Phuoc Hai commune, in the forest of Binh Chau - Phuoc Buu Nature Reserve.

The previous day, the victim's son reported that his mother and father, Le Hong Phong, 70, had left on 1/5 by motorbike to pick leaves and had not returned. The couple's motorbike was later found parked at the edge of the forest, approximately 30 km from their home.

Following an extensive search, commune police located Mr. Phong in a deep forest area late on 6/5.

Authorities are currently verifying and clarifying the incident.

The Binh Chau - Phuoc Buu Nature Reserve spans over 10,500 hectares, covering parts of Xuyen Moc, Binh Chau, and Ho Tram communes. This reserve boasts a diverse ecosystem, home to hundreds of plant and animal species, many of which are rare.
