Around 12:30 PM on 14/8, a delivery driver on a motorbike was hit by the falling branch. Bystanders helped the victim to his feet; he suffered only minor scratches. A parked car was also hit by the branch but sustained minimal damage.
At the time, heavy rain and strong winds were reported. The fallen branch appeared to be decaying. Authorities removed the branch from the scene by 1:30 PM.

Starting at 11:45 AM, dark clouds gathered over Hanoi, followed by a thunderstorm lasting over an hour. This led to localized flooding in several streets, including Tan Mai, Trieu Khuc, and Yen Xa. The Northern Meteorological and Hydrological Center forecast that within the next 1-3 hours, Hanoi and surrounding areas would continue to experience moderate to heavy rain, with rainfall between 20-40 mm and higher in some areas.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting stated that from 14/8 to 18/8, Hanoi will continue to have thunderstorms, with moderate to heavy rain possible from 15/8 to 17/8. Temperatures are expected to range from 30-33 degrees Celsius. From 19/8 to 24/8, rain is expected to continue, with no hot weather anticipated.
