Around 4:30 a.m., the victim was riding a large motorcycle from central Hanoi towards Noi Bai airport. Nearing the middle of the bridge, his motorcycle hit the rear of a truck with a Hai Duong license plate (now Hai Phong). The impact threw the rider and motorcycle onto the road, where they were immediately struck by a 4-seat car with a commercial license plate.
The victim died at the scene. The motorcycle was shattered, with debris scattered over a 20-meter radius. The car sustained damage to its front undercarriage, and the truck's rear bumper was deformed. The location of the debris suggests the motorcycle was not traveling in the correct lane.

Traffic Police (CSGT) team 2, in coordination with CSGT team 15 (Hanoi CSGT Department) and other authorities, closed off the scene, managed traffic flow, and investigated the cause of the accident. Traffic across Nhat Tan bridge experienced significant congestion.
Nhat Tan bridge, which opened in 1/2015, connects to Vo Nguyen Giap road, shortening travel time between Noi Bai airport and central Hanoi. The bridge has 8 lanes, with a maximum speed of 70 km/h for motorcycles and 90 km/h for cars.
Also Tuesday morning, a collision between a motorcycle and a container truck occurred on Highway 70 near the Hateco Xuan Phuong apartment complex, resulting in the death of a female motorcyclist.
