Father's night out leads to son's dramatic rescue from house fire

A 10-year-old boy was dramatically rescued from a house fire after his father locked him inside to go drinking with neighbors. The incident occurred late on 8/7.

Around 9 PM, residents noticed flames erupting from the home of 45-year-old Nguyen Van Lanh, which also served as a motorcycle repair shop and used motorcycle dealership, on provincial road 941 in Vinh Hanh commune. People shouted and attempted to extinguish the fire, but their efforts were unsuccessful.

Lanh was drinking at a neighbor's house about 100 meters away, having locked the front door before leaving.

Local police, along with the Chau Thanh district fire and rescue team, were mobilized to fight the blaze. Upon discovering Lanh’s son trapped inside, officers cut the lock and brought him to safety.

The fire was fully contained by almost 11 PM, with no casualties. The house was completely destroyed. The number of motorcycles lost in the fire remains unknown, as the intoxicated owner has yet to provide a statement.
