Female troops march in rehearsal for national day parade

Female soldiers, wearing combat helmets and carrying rifles and other equipment, marched along a 200-meter route at Mieu Mon National Training Center, preparing for the ceremony at Ba Dinh Square.

The 4th joint rehearsal for the military and police parade took place on the morning of 16/8 at Mieu Mon National Training Center with over 16,300 personnel. Among the 9 female contingents, 7 are from the military and 2 from the police.

The female military band is managed by the military ceremonial unit. The female soldiers carried instruments such as saxophones, tubas, trumpets, and drums during the rehearsal.

Female special police officers from the Ministry of Public Security wore specialized gear, including combat armor and helmets equipped with radios.

The female militia contingent representing Vietnam's diverse ethnic groups wore various traditional costumes.

Female special forces soldiers wore combat helmets and carried rifles in a formal marching posture. They have undergone over three months of training in a formation of 10 soldiers across and 16 deep, including the color guard and contingent leader – a larger number than the parade on 30/4.

This was the final rehearsal at Mieu Mon before the troops move to Ba Dinh for two joint rehearsals before the preliminary review, the general rehearsal, and the official ceremony.

The female guerilla contingent from the southern region, managed by Military Region 7, wore their characteristic checkered scarves and conical hats.

Observing the more than 16,300 personnel rehearsing, Minister of National Defense Phan Van Giang remarked that judging by their arm movements and strides, women could not be called the "weaker sex." He even suggested that male soldiers could learn from the women's cheerful demeanor. He admired many who, despite personal hardships, put aside their private matters to participate. Some have participated in two or three parades, and some couples are even rehearsing together.

The hour-long joint rehearsal concluded at 9 a.m., just as heavy rain began. Some female soldiers checked their makeup to maintain their cheerful appearance.

Over 11 years, Vietnam has sent nearly 1,100 professional officers and soldiers to serve in various important roles, including staff officers, planners, liaison officers, military observers, communications officers, logistics officers, and personal security officers at UN field missions and headquarters.

Female military band members posed for photos with General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, and other leaders from the Ministry of National Defense who attended the rehearsal to encourage the troops.

This year's parade involves over 16,000 personnel, including 43 marching contingents, 18 stationary contingents, and 14 contingents of military vehicles and artillery from the army and police. After 40 years since the 1985 National Day parade, military vehicles, including armored tanks, are returning to the formation. A naval parade is also being held for the first time in Khanh Hoa, with the participation of the Navy, Coast Guard, Border Guard, and Military Region 5.
