Around 12 p.m., a fire erupted from a beverage kiosk, approximately 20 square meters in size, located at the entrance of Thu Duc Market. Thick black smoke billowed out, causing panic among shoppers. Nearby vendors selling shoes and sandals quickly moved their merchandise.
More than 10 people in the vicinity brought mini fire extinguishers and worked together to put out the fire. Within about two minutes, the flames were contained, preventing further spread.
Duc, who lives near the market, said that despite the thick, suffocating smoke, people quickly brought fire extinguishers and took turns spraying the flames. "Fortunately, the fire was extinguished quickly. If it had spread to the adjacent shoe and sandal stalls, it would have been very dangerous," Duc said.
