Fire engulfs 1,000 square meter scrap yard near residential area in TP HCM

A fire broke out at a scrap yard spanning approximately 1,000 square meters in An Phu ward (formerly Thuan An, Binh Duong), destroying a warehouse and a truck in the early morning of 9/8.

Around 3 a.m., a security guard noticed flames in the scrap sorting area and immediately raised the alarm. Residents attempted to extinguish the fire with available equipment, but their efforts were unsuccessful.

The fire quickly spread through the warehouse, fueled by flammable materials such as plastic, paper, and rubber, accompanied by several explosions. "I was asleep when I heard loud bangs and thought the adjacent parking lot was on fire. When I went outside, I realized it was the scrap yard. The flames were high, making it impossible to approach," said Thai, a resident of An Phu 20 Street.

TP HCM Fire and Rescue Services dispatched multiple fire trucks to control the blaze and prevent it from spreading to the nearby residential area and parking lot. By morning, the fire was contained, but the warehouse and truck were completely destroyed.

The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are under investigation.
