The car crashed through over 10 meters of the bridge railing before plunging into the Dao River. The two motorbike riders sustained minor injuries. The two occupants of the car managed to open the doors and swim to safety, where they received assistance. By after 6 PM, rescue forces had recovered the car from the river.
A Van An Commune leader said the two people who fell into the river were taken to the hospital for treatment. Authorities have not yet been able to interview them, so it remains unclear how many people were in the car at the time of the accident.
"We suspect a third person may be missing and are currently conducting a search," the commune leader said.
