While visiting relatives on Pham Van Dong Street in Lao Bao commune on 7/7, five-year-old Tran Tien from Hue City became stuck in a 9-cm diameter drainpipe while playing in the yard around 4 p.m.

The pipe, buried under a concrete courtyard, ran straight and then bent at a 90-degree angle. Tien’s entire left leg slipped into the pipe and became wedged. Relatives attempted to free him but were unsuccessful.
Rescue and Firefighting Team No. 2 (Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue Police Department, Quang Tri Provincial Police) dispatched personnel and equipment to the scene.

Police calmed the boy while using tools to break the concrete and cut the plastic pipe. By 5:34 p.m., Tien was safely freed, unharmed and in good health.
