Gia Binh airport link to Hanoi designated a national key project

The Gia Binh airport to Hanoi expressway project has been added to Vietnam's list of key national projects, with a focus on transportation.

According to the prime minister's decision on 6/8, several other projects were also added to the list of national key projects in the transport sector. These include expressways connecting Cho Moi to Bac Kan, Bac Kan to Cao Bang, Hoa Binh to Moc Chau, Vinh to Thanh Thuy, Cam Lo to Lao Bao, Quang Ngai to Kon Tum, Quy Nhon to Pleiku, and Ca Mau to Dat Mui. The list also includes a project to expand the North-South expressway in the east under a public-private partnership (PPP) model.

Also added to the list are the expansion projects for the Hoa Lac - Hoa Binh and TP HCM - Trung Luong - My Thuan expressways, the connecting road to Hon Khoai port, the Hon Khoai port project, and the upgrade and expansion of Ca Mau airport.

With these additions, the list of key national transport projects now includes more than 20 projects.

The expressway connecting Gia Binh airport (Bac Ninh) to Hanoi is planned to be 35 km long and 120 m wide, with a total investment of 71,150 billion VND. It will start at the airport in Gia Binh district and end at the intersection of the Tu Lien bridge access road and Hanoi's ring road 3.

Within Hanoi, the road will stretch 14 km and maintain a width of 120 m. A new 7 km section will be built from the Bac Ninh border to the intersection of Hanoi's ring road 3 and the Hanoi - Lang Son expressway. The remaining 7 km, overlapping the Hanoi - Thai Nguyen expressway and ring road 3, will be expanded from 35 m to 120 m.

The investment cost for the 14 km section through Hanoi is 42,450 billion VND, which includes over 8,100 billion VND for site clearance and 34,300 billion VND for construction and consultancy.

The 21 km section in Bac Ninh province will also have a width of 120 m, with an estimated investment cost of 28,700 billion VND. This comprises nearly 7,200 billion VND for site clearance and 21,500 billion VND for construction and consultancy.
