The "Thong tin Chinh phu" (Government Information) Fanpage is achieving remarkable reach, averaging 20 million engagements daily. A single post titled "Giving 100,000 VND per person for the entire population to celebrate Independence Day" garnered 25.8 million engagements within just 3 hours of publication. On 2/9/2025, marking the 80th anniversary of National Day, the Fanpage's reach surged to an impressive 128.4 million engagements.
This success coincides with the Government e-Portal's 20th anniversary of connecting to the global Internet, celebrated on the morning of 16/6. Two decades ago, on 10/1/2006, Prime Minister Phan Van Khai pressed the button to launch the Government Website, which later evolved into the Government e-Portal.
Nguyen Hong Sam, Director General of the Government e-Portal, highlighted the Portal's journey. Since its inception, it has served as the government's official online information channel, playing a vital role in disseminating the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws. It also transmits directives and operational guidance from the Government and Prime Minister, while acting as a crucial bridge between the government and its citizens and businesses.
Beyond its role as an information provider, the Portal actively organizes numerous press conferences, seminars, and forums. These events aim to provide policy information and address pressing societal concerns such as electricity, petrol, vaccine distribution, and disease prevention. This proactive engagement contributes to fostering social consensus and strengthening public trust.

According to Mr. Sam, one of the Portal's most notable achievements is its effective role as the "shortest bridge" between the government and its people and enterprises. Annually, the Portal receives 47,000 feedback submissions, suggestions, and proposals from organizations and citizens addressed to the government.
A prime example of its critical function occurred during Typhoon Yagi in 2024. When false information circulated about the Thac Ba dam breaking, the Government e-Portal swiftly issued official statements confirming the dam's safety. This action helped to reassure the public and stabilize the situation.
The Portal also excels in communicating policies throughout their entire lifecycle. This includes policy initiation, draft development, public consultation on draft documents, dissemination and explanation of policies after promulgation, and receiving feedback. For instance, the Portal collected over 8,000 public comments on the amended Land Law draft and more than 50,700 comments on the draft resolution to amend and supplement certain articles of the 2013 Constitution.
Speaking at the ceremony, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc expressed his admiration for the Government e-Portal's pioneering use of cross-border social media. This approach has been instrumental in communicating the Government's and Prime Minister's directives and operations.
Mr. Tuc commended the Portal for its dynamism, creativity, and proactive organization of direct and online dialogues. These events involve representatives from ministries, specialized agencies, National Assembly delegates, experts, scientists, and the business community. Such platforms facilitate discussions and resolutions for complex, real-world issues, providing official information, enhancing transparency, and building social consensus during policy implementation.
Policy communication has been a significant highlight for the Portal, marked by the launch of its "Xay dung chinh sach phap luat" (Policy and Lawmaking) page. This page, which attracts substantial traffic, covers the full policy lifecycle and addresses challenges encountered when implementing policies.
"The Government e-Portal has effectively guided public opinion and served as an effective bridge between the Government and citizens, businesses, society, and international friends. It is an effective interactive forum between state administrative agencies and citizens and businesses," Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Tuc stated.
Under a new decree issued in early June, the Government e-Portal will be upgraded to the Government Information and Communication Department. Mr. Tuc urged the unit to enhance the quality of the government's primary policy information and communication agency, particularly in the digital environment. The guiding principle for this development is to be proactive, timely, and citizen- and business-centric.
