On 7/7, dozens of workers and machinery began cutting apart the hull of the Thanh Hung 06 cargo ship. The dismantling is being expedited to clear the site for the Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Plant project.
According to the construction unit, authorities inspected and emptied the ship's fuel tanks in June to prevent marine pollution.

The ship, grounded about 400 m offshore in a rocky reef area, suffered significant corrosion and rust. Dismantling is progressing from the exposed sections to the submerged parts. Border patrol and other agencies are monitoring each step to ensure safety and minimize environmental impact.
"Metal sections will be craned ashore during low tide," a representative of the construction unit said.

For over two years, the wreck became a popular photo spot. However, due to structural damage and safety concerns, local authorities recently posted warning signs, advising people to stay away.
On 30/5, the Ninh Thuan People's Committee (before the merger) approved on-site demolition, expected to take 45 days.
