Hanoi City Police has invested in 36 new LED screens, which are being installed at major intersections across the city. Key locations include national highway 3 - national highway 18, Vo Chi Cong - Nguyen Hoang Ton, national highway 2 - Vo Van Kiet, Quang Trung - Le Trong Tan, Dam Quang Trung - Co Linh, and the Mai Dich overpass.
Each screen measures 4 x 2 m and is mounted on a gantry structure. On the afternoon of 13/7, the Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police, along with the construction unit, conducted a final inspection of the entire system. The main components are complete, and the system is integrated, tested, and ready for operation from 15/7.
These screens connect directly to the Hanoi Traffic Control Center. They will display real-time information on traffic congestion, accidents, flooding, and other road incidents. This allows residents to proactively choose alternative routes, thereby improving traffic flow and reducing travel times.
Beyond real-time traffic information, the system also serves broader public safety and awareness goals. It will be used for law dissemination, guiding traffic diversions, announcing penalty levels for violations, and broadcasting public service videos focused on traffic safety.

This new initiative builds upon Hanoi's existing smart city infrastructure. Previously, the city implemented an artificial intelligence (AI) camera network across many streets. To date, over 2,400 cameras have been installed. This network includes over 1,100 cameras for detecting traffic order and safety violations, 960 for measuring traffic flow, 112 for panoramic intersection surveillance, 251 PTZ cameras for security and order monitoring, and 30 for speed violation enforcement.
To ensure robust connectivity for this extensive system, Hanoi City Police installed over 470 km of fiber optic cable and 136 km of power cable. This infrastructure spans 238 key intersections, city gateways, and inner-city areas, forming the backbone of Hanoi's intelligent traffic management system.
The AI camera system has already demonstrated its effectiveness. According to statistics, during the first six months of 2026, the AI camera system at 195 intersections detected over 33,100 traffic violations, contributing significantly to urban traffic discipline.
In a further step towards advanced urban monitoring, Hanoi City Police also began piloting unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from 1/6. These UAVs are deployed for patrol and surveillance in Hoan Kiem and Tay Ho wards. Developed by domestic enterprises, the drones are equipped with high-resolution cameras, optical sensors, navigation systems, and integrated artificial intelligence, enhancing the city's ability to monitor and manage public order and safety.
