On 1/8, a 20-meter stretch of Highway 40B near Tu Mo Rong commune collapsed, sinking between 0.6 and 1 meter. A sinkhole approximately 1 meter in diameter and over 1.2 meters deep also appeared nearby. Cars with low ground clearance were forced to turn back, leaving only motorbikes and high-clearance vehicles able to navigate the damaged section.
Tran Quoc Huy, chairman of the Tu Mo Rong People's Committee, said the road had been showing signs of erosion due to 10 days of continuous rain. "The widening subsidence poses a threat to road users, especially at night," Huy said, adding that warning signs have been placed at the site.

Local authorities have urged the road management company to take immediate action. Dak Binh Traffic Management, Repair and Construction Co. Ltd has mobilized personnel and equipment for initial repairs.
According to local authorities, an underground stream flows through the affected area. Continued heavy rain could lead to a complete road closure. The commune has requested the installation of a larger drainage system to address the issue.
