Yen Bai province experienced heavy rainfall on 24/6 and 25/6 due to the influence of the southern edge of a low-pressure trough, combined with wind convergence. Rainfall from 7 p.m. on 24/6 to 8 a.m. on 25/6 reached 317 mm in Lieu Do, 293 mm in Muong Lai, 286 mm in Yen The, and 257 mm in Vinh Lac.
The heavy rain weakened the soil, leading to the landslide and flooding in 11 areas of Yen Bai city. The Le Van Tam street area experienced the deepest flooding, at 1.2 m. Localized flooding also occurred in Luc Yen, Chan Yen, and Yen Binh districts.
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting predicts showers and thunderstorms this week in the northern midland and mountainous provinces. Rainfall today is expected to be between 15 and 40 mm, with some areas exceeding 150 mm.
