Yesterday afternoon, Hung was driving a 45-seat sleeper bus from Ho Chi Minh City to Nghe An Province on National Highway 14. Near Pong Drang Commune, the bus was stopped by the Krong Buk Traffic Police Station for inspection. Officers discovered 66 passengers on board, exceeding the permitted limit by 21.
Hung could not produce a driver's license. Data from the National Traffic Safety Committee revealed that his license had been previously revoked for 23 months in Quang Ngai Province for driving under the influence of drugs.
The Krong Buk Traffic Police Station issued fines to both the driver and the owner and impounded the vehicle. They also coordinated with the bus company to arrange alternative transportation for the passengers that night.
