Lieutenant General Truong Manh Dung appointed deputy chief of general staff of Vietnam People's Army

On 22/6, the prime minister appointed Lieutenant General Truong Manh Dung, commander of Military Region 1, as deputy chief of general staff of the Vietnam People's Army.

Lieutenant General Truong Manh Dung, who enlisted in 1987, has nearly 40 years of service in the military. Prior to this new appointment, he served for over one year as commander of Military Region 1. His extensive career includes various command positions, notably as commander of Corps 1 and Corps 12.

The General Staff serves as the command and operational agency for the Vietnam People's Army and Self-Defense Militia. It organizes and directs the development of these forces, while also commanding military activities.

The General Staff comprises a chief of general staff, several deputy chiefs of general staff, and various functional departments responsible for operations, combat training, and personnel. General Nguyen Tan Cuong currently holds the position of chief of general staff of the Vietnam People's Army, concurrently serving as deputy minister of national defense. In this dual role, he assumes responsibility for directing the Ministry of National Defense's activities when the minister is absent.
