Long Thanh airport, covering approximately 5,000 hectares, represents an investment of nearly 16 billion USD. Its first phase is designed to handle 25 million passengers and 1.2 million tons of cargo each year, requiring an estimated 14,000 employees upon commencement of operations, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam.
The project investor aims to complete the entire construction by September for trial operations, with commercial services scheduled to commence on 1/12. Many airlines have already submitted their flight plans, predominantly for international routes, to operate from Long Thanh airport starting late this year.
