On the afternoon of 8/6, the 9th National Congress of the Vietnam Farmers' Union for the 2026-2031 term announced the results of the first meeting of the union's Central Executive Committee.
Accordingly, Luong Quoc Doan, president of the Vietnam Farmers' Union for the 8th term, was re-elected president for the 9th term. The four vice presidents re-elected were Phan Nhu Nguyen, Pham Tien Nam, Nguyen Xuan Dinh, and Bui Thi Thom.

Luong Quoc Doan, 56, is from Hung Yen province and holds a bachelor of law degree. He is a member of the Party Central Committee for two terms, the 13th and 14th, and a National Assembly deputy for the 15th and 16th terms.
He rose through the ranks from an officer at the Organization Board Office of the Tien Hai District Party Committee in the former Thai Binh province. He has many years of experience working within the Vietnam Farmers' Union system, having been responsible for organizational work and holding the position of vice president of the union before being elected president in 2021.
The Vietnam Farmers' Union is a political-social organization of the farmer class, led by the Party, and is a member of the Vietnam Fatherland Front. The union's predecessor was the Red Farmers' Association, established on 14/10/1930. The union plays a central, core role in farmer movements, agricultural development, the rural economy, and new rural construction.
In addition to mobilizing and advocating for members, the union also cares for and protects the legitimate rights and interests of farmers. It organizes activities to support production and business, and represents the farmer class in building the Party and State, and strengthening national unity.
