Around 6 a.m. on 29/7, a fire broke out in the production area of a lunchbox factory in Tan Dong Hiep ward. Security personnel and passersby attempted to extinguish the flames but were unsuccessful.
Because the primary materials were plastic and foam, the fire spread rapidly throughout the approximately 500 m2 factory. "Smoke billowed up, creating a column tens of meters high, visible from afar," Lan, a witness, said.
Ho Chi Minh City fire department dispatched multiple fire trucks and dozens of firefighters to the scene. Due to the factory's location within a residential area, firefighters established multiple access points to prevent the fire from spreading.
By 8 a.m., the fire was largely under control. The fire did not cause any casualties, but the factory and its contents were completely destroyed.
