Mini gas stove explodes as 15 people eat hotpot

A mini gas stove exploded while 15 family members were gathered for a hotpot meal in Cai Nuoc commune on 16/8, injuring three people, two of whom suffered severe burns.

As everyone was eating, one stove unexpectedly exploded, creating a fireball that engulfed the front area, causing many to panic and flee. Several children were among the group. The fire scorched some objects and those seated near the stove.

The explosion injured three people; two suffered severe burns and are undergoing treatment at Cai Nuoc General Hospital. The third person sustained minor injuries and has returned home.

"My uncle and cousin suffered severe burns and are receiving treatment, while my mother's injuries were minor, and the hospital allowed her to go home," Han said.

Authorities advise against using old, self-refilled, or damaged gas cylinders and stoves. They recommend checking equipment before use to prevent the risk of leaks, fires, and explosions.
