7-car pile-up on Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong expressway

A collision between a pickup truck and a five-seater car triggered a multi-vehicle pile-up, causing extensive traffic congestion on the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong expressway on the afternoon of 23/8.

Around 3 pm, a pickup truck was traveling on the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong expressway, heading towards Ho Chi Minh City. When it reached the section passing through Khanh Hau ward, the vehicle unexpectedly collided with a five-seater car traveling ahead.

Five cars behind, failing to maintain a safe distance and react in time, successively crashed into each other, resulting in a 7-car pile-up.

Following the collision, the vehicles stopped in lane one, close to the median strip, sustaining minor damage to their front and rear sections. The accident resulted in no casualties, but it occurred on a weekend afternoon with heavy traffic, causing several kilometers of congestion on the expressway.

Authorities subsequently directed traffic and cleared the scene to alleviate congestion. The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
