On February 11, the Presidium of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee organized the third consultative conference. This conference aimed to agree on and finalize the list of central officials nominated as candidates for the 16th National Assembly.
Hoang Cong Thuy, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, stated that voter conferences at workplaces were conducted democratically. The composition and number of participating voters adhered to regulations. Aggregated results showed that all 217 central officials received 100% confidence from voters at their workplaces for nomination. The Front did not record any opinions or incidents related to the nominated individuals that required verification.
According to the finalized list, the Party's agencies nominated 10 individuals, while the President's Office nominated two. Agencies of the National Assembly put forward 145 candidates, and the Government and its affiliated agencies nominated 15. The Ministry of National Defense nominated 14 individuals, including the Minister, ministry leaders, military regions, and service branches. The Ministry of Public Security nominated three candidates. The Supreme People's Court, the Supreme People's Procuracy, and the State Audit Office each nominated one candidate. According to Vice Chairman Hoang Cong Thuy, among the 217 individuals listed, 152 are seeking re-election. Five are non-Party members, and 23 are ethnic minorities. Regarding academic qualifications, the list includes: 22 professors and associate professors; 78 doctors; 89 masters; and 28 individuals with university or bachelor's degrees.
At the conference, 100% of the attending delegates unanimously approved the list of 217 individuals from central agencies and organizations qualified to run for the 16th National Assembly.
Bui Thi Minh Hoai, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, requested that the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee coordinate closely with National Assembly agencies. This coordination aims to meticulously review the list, ensuring accurate and complete information for all candidates.
Immediately after the conference, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee will finalize the minutes and submit the list of 217 individuals to the National Election Council and the National Assembly Standing Committee as stipulated. The National Election Council will then announce the official list of candidates for each electoral unit nationwide.
Based on this, provincial and communal Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees will coordinate with provincial and city Election Councils to organize voter outreach meetings. These meetings will allow candidates to meet and engage with voters in their constituencies and exercise their right to campaign as regulated.
