An Giang plans 4,500 hectares of land reclamation in Phu Quoc, Ha Tien

An Giang province plans land reclamation in key areas such as Phu Quoc, Tho Chau, Ha Tien, and Rach Gia, with a focus on developing tourism, urban centers, and regional service hubs.

An Giang province is set to reclaim 4,500 hectares of land across its key coastal areas, including Phu Quoc and Ha Tien. This extensive project aims to transform the region into a vibrant hub for tourism, urban development, and essential services.

The initiative was announced during a meeting on 1/4 with a consulting firm. Provincial leaders have urged relevant departments to accelerate the planning process, targeting the commencement of execution by next year at the latest.

The reclamation plan allocates the largest portion, approximately 2,300 hectares, to the Phu Quoc - Tho Chau area. The Ha Tien - Kien Luong - Tien Hai region is projected to cover about 900 hectares, while Rach Gia - An Bien - Hon Dat - An Minh will span around 1,100 hectares. The remaining 200 hectares are designated for the Kien Hai island cluster.

Each reclaimed area has a distinct development focus. Phu Quoc - Tho Chau is envisioned as an integrated international entertainment complex, fostering free trade, high-end resorts, entertainment parks, golf courses, and marine tourism. This aims to establish it as the southern international tourism gateway.

The Ha Tien - Kien Luong - Tien Hai area is positioned as a cultural and heritage space. It will highlight the interwoven values of Vietnam - Khmer culture, integrating ecotourism, performing arts, healthcare, and community economic initiatives.

For Rach Gia - Hon Dat - An Bien - An Minh, the reclaimed land is slated to become the administrative, commercial, and entertainment hub of the Mekong Delta region. This area will serve as a gateway connecting the mainland with various islands, developing into a green, modern, and multi-functional urban model.

Ho Van Mung, Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee, stressed that the planning process must adhere to green criteria. He emphasized prioritizing renewable energy use, implementing wastewater treatment solutions, and proactively inviting strategic investors from the preparatory stage.
