Naval ship rescues man drifting offshore Vung Tau

Officers and soldiers of ship 743 from Naval Brigade 129 rescued an An Giang fisherman who was believed to have fallen from a fishing boat and drifted for several days at sea in a weakened state.

Around 6 PM on 16/8, ship 743 was operating approximately 150 km off Vung Tau, Ho Chi Minh City, near the Thang Long oil rig, when its crew spotted a man bobbing in large waves.

Officers and soldiers quickly deployed a lifebuoy and rope, taking about one hour to bring him aboard. The victim was severely exhausted and starving, receiving first aid, water, and porridge from the military medical staff.
