Around 6 PM on 16/8, ship 743 was operating approximately 150 km off Vung Tau, Ho Chi Minh City, near the Thang Long oil rig, when its crew spotted a man bobbing in large waves.
Officers and soldiers quickly deployed a lifebuoy and rope, taking about one hour to bring him aboard. The victim was severely exhausted and starving, receiving first aid, water, and porridge from the military medical staff.

After gradually recovering, the man identified himself as Truong Van Trung, 46 years old, from Tay Yen commune, An Giang province, who works as a fisherman. He stated that on 12/8, he fell from his fishing boat while working and subsequently drifted at sea.
Currently, Mr. Trung is being cared for by the officers and soldiers of ship 743, Naval Brigade 129. He is receiving food, drink, and a place to rest to recover his health.
