Series of projects set to break ground at Da Nang international airport

The Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) and Da Nang City People's Committee announced on the afternoon of 27/8 the implementation of the T1 terminal renovation and expansion project, along with phase one of the aircraft parking apron expansion.

The T1 passenger terminal renovation and expansion project, funded by ACV, has a total investment exceeding 9,930 billion VND. The design includes adding approximately 96,000 square meters of floor area on a total land area of over 165,000 square meters. This aims to increase the service capacity to 14 million passengers per year, comprising 10 million domestic and 4 million international passengers.

The project also includes developing integrated components such as an elevated road, a technical building, a multi-story parking garage combined with commercial facilities, a wastewater treatment system, waste collection, and internal traffic infrastructure. Construction is scheduled to commence in 8/2027. The expanded section is expected to be operational from 1/2029, with the entire renovation of the existing structure completed by 8/2029.

Alongside the terminal upgrade, the phase one aircraft parking apron expansion project, with a total capital exceeding 170 billion VND, will add 6 code C aircraft parking positions. This component is expected to commence construction in 12/2026 and be completed in 7/2027.

Le Quang Nam, Vice Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee, emphasized the importance of the airport: "Da Nang international airport plays a crucial role in connecting the city with domestic and international hubs. Upgrading airport infrastructure is an urgent requirement, creating a foundation for Da Nang to maintain its role as the leading aviation gateway of the Central and Central Highlands regions."

During the ceremony, the city also launched a flight information lookup service on the Danang Smart City application. This utility connects directly with the airport's operational database (AODB), helping passengers look up flight schedules on a unified smart city platform.

Previously, on 19/5, ACV commenced construction of the T2 international passenger terminal expansion project at Da Nang airport. This project, with a total investment of nearly 1,500 billion VND, will increase the terminal's capacity to 6 million passengers per year.
