Nguyen Tien Hai was officially appointed Minister of Home Affairs on 3/8, following approval by the National Assembly. This appointment comes 15 days after he was designated acting minister by the prime minister. He succeeds Do Thanh Binh, who the Politburo reassigned as secretary of Can Tho City Party Committee.

Minister Hai, 61, is from Ca Mau province. He holds a Master's degree in public administration and a Bachelor's degree in law. A prominent figure, he is a member of the 13th and 14th Party Central Committees and a delegate to the 16th National Assembly.

Hai's career began in youth union activities in the former Minh Hai province. He served in various leadership roles, including chairman of the Provincial Youth Council, secretary of U Minh District Youth Union, and chairman of Ca Mau Provincial Youth Federation.

In 2001, Hai transitioned to the Ca Mau provincial government. Over the years, he held key positions such as chief of the Provincial Party Committee Office, secretary of Cai Nuoc District Party Committee, director of the Department of Justice, vice chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, deputy secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

In 7/2020, he became secretary of Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee, a role he held for five years. His influence grew further when, in early 2025, the Politburo assigned him as secretary of Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee. Following the merger of Kien Giang and An Giang in 7/2025, he continued his leadership as secretary of An Giang Provincial Party Committee.

At the 14th Party Congress in January, Hai was re-elected as a Party Central Committee member. Three months later, he was elected as a delegate to the 16th National Assembly and subsequently appointed head of the An Giang Provincial National Assembly delegation.

These include administrative organization, local government, cadres, civil servants, public employees, labor, salaries, social insurance, employment, people with meritorious services, youth, gender equality, emulation and commendation, document management, and archiving.

Minister Nguyen Tien Hai is supported by six Deputy Ministers: Vu Chien Thang, Truong Hai Long, Cao Huy, Nguyen Van Hoi, Nguyen Manh Khuong, and Nguyen Thi Ha.
