Car driver crashes through railway barrier in Ho Chi Minh City

A male driver crashed his car through a railway barrier on Pham Van Dong street in Hanh Thong ward, Ho Chi Minh City, resulting in a 19 million VND fine and a two-month license suspension from traffic police.

The Hang Xanh Traffic Police Team, part of the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Police Department, issued a 19 million VND fine and a two-month driver's license suspension on 3/8. This action followed an incident where a driver crossed a railway track after the red signal light had been activated, violating Decree 81/2026.

Camera records driver hitting railway barrier

The incident occurred on the evening of 24/7, when the driver of a 7-seat car was traveling on Pham Van Dong street, heading from Binh Loi bridge towards Go Vap roundabout. As the car approached a railway crossing, it collided with a barrier arm that a railway guard was in the process of lowering. Warning lights and an alarm bell had been active before the impact.

Surveillance cameras captured the entire event. Following the collision, the railway guard quickly addressed the situation, preventing any further damage. When questioned by police, the driver explained that he was going too fast and attempted to steer his vehicle through a gap in the descending barrier.

Traffic police indicate that Pham Van Dong street, which leads towards Tan Son Nhat airport, experiences significant traffic volume. Many drivers frequently fail to observe railway safety regulations in this area. In the first 6 months of this year, authorities recorded 826 violations at this specific crossing.
