At 5:30 AM on 7/1, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting reported the lowest temperature in the Northern region was 2 degrees Celsius on Mau Son peak in Lang Son, which stands at approximately 1,500 meters. Other high-altitude areas also recorded low temperatures: Sa Pa in Lao Cai registered 4 degrees, while Moc Chau in Son La and Dong Van in Ha Giang were around 5 degrees. Tam Dao in Vinh Phuc and Mai Chau in Hoa Binh generally saw temperatures between 6 and 7 degrees Celsius.
In the Northern Delta, temperatures were also low, with Bac Ninh and Hanoi recording around 10 degrees Celsius. Further south, Thanh Hoa experienced 12 degrees, Vinh in Nghe An 13 degrees, and Ha Tinh 14 degrees. The cold front continues to extend its influence, affecting the North Central Coast and subsequently the South Central Coast, while the Northern region and Thanh Hoa remain under severe cold conditions.

During this cold spell, forecast minimum temperatures for the Northern Delta and Thanh Hoa are generally between 9 and 12 degrees Celsius. The Northern midlands and mountainous areas can expect temperatures ranging from 6 to 9 degrees, with some high mountain areas potentially falling below 3 degrees. Nghe An and Ha Tinh are projected to see 11-14 degrees, and from Quang Tri to Hue, temperatures will be between 15 and 18 degrees.
Marine conditions are also affected by the cold front. The Gulf of Tonkin is experiencing strong northeast winds of level 5-6, gusting to level 7, with waves reaching 2-3 meters high. The sea area from southern Quang Tri to Dak Lak, the Northern East Sea (including the Hoang Sa sea area), and the northern part of the central East Sea are encountering level 6 winds, gusting to level 7-8, and waves 3-5 meters high. Further south, the sea area from Khanh Hoa to Ca Mau, and the southern part of the central East Sea, Southern East Sea (including the Truong Sa special zone), are facing level 6-7 winds, gusting to level 8-9, and waves 4-6 meters high.
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting issued a warning that high mountain areas like Ta Xua in Son La, Mau Son in Lang Son, and Dong Van in Ha Giang are likely to experience frost and rime ice. The severe cold poses risks to public health.
The cold weather significantly impacts agricultural production. Severe cold, frost, and rime ice reduce livestock resistance, increasing the risk of disease and causing damage to cattle and poultry. Additionally, these conditions can lead to leaf scorch, hindering the growth and development of crops.
