Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, vice chairwoman of Da Nang People's Committee, recently submitted a document requesting ministries and agencies to collaborate in resolving difficulties at Da Nang International Airport. The airport is experiencing a 20-30% annual increase in passenger volume, handling 130-170 flights daily, with 60-70 of these being international.
By 2025, passenger traffic had already surpassed the airport's operational capacity. The domestic terminal (T1) served 7,5 million passengers against a design capacity of 6 million, while the international terminal (T2) handled 6,8 million passengers compared to its 4 million capacity. Due to time zone specificities and tourism demand, international flights converge around midday and at night. This concentration frequently overwhelms check-in, security screening, and immigration areas, resulting in extended wait times for travelers.

To address these issues, the city has requested the Ministry of Public Security to direct an increase in immigration personnel, open all available processing counters, expand the autogate system, and simplify control procedures. Similarly, customs authorities are urged to deploy sufficient staff, enhance lane segregation, and implement technology to reduce inspection times.
Additionally, Da Nang advocates for expediting the expansion of terminals and aprons. The city also recommends reasonable flight slot coordination to limit concentrated flight arrivals, optimizing service processes, and regulating passenger flow. These measures aim to reduce congestion and enhance service quality.
The city's People's Committee has also called upon Da Nang International Airport to accelerate runway upgrades, optimize terminal operations, reconfigure space, and add security screening areas. Concurrently, the international terminal is instructed to regulate passenger flow, optimize processes, and increase its operational capacity.
