Many drivers were surprised to see cattle running along the expressway yesterday afternoon, specifically on a section undergoing expansion in Nhon Trach commune. One vehicle had to slow down to avoid a collision.
Upon detecting the incident, Vietnam Expressway Technical Services Joint Stock Company (VEC E) and traffic police quickly responded. Traffic police managed vehicles from a distance, alerting drivers to avoid collisions, while another team herded the cattle off the road and took them to a station on National Route 51 for processing.
This morning, authorities worked with the cattle owner, issuing a warning against recurrence. The owner stated that due to negligence during grazing, the cattle had run onto the road.
Incidents of livestock encroaching on traffic lanes have occurred previously on the TP HCM - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway. In 8/2023, a herd of cattle ran into the emergency lane, raising concerns among drivers. On 5/2, cattle on a truck escaped onto the Vinh Hao – Phan Thiet expressway after a door opened, leading to multiple vehicle collisions and damage.
The TP HCM - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway, which is 55,7 km long, was fully opened to traffic in 2015. The section from TP HCM to Long Thanh is currently undergoing expansion.
