On the afternoon of 23/3, Phuc Trach communal police announced they are collaborating with the Ha Tinh Provincial Police's Traffic Police Department to identify two female students. The students appeared in a video violating railway safety regulations, prompting authorities to determine appropriate legal and educational actions.
Dashcam footage from 13h39 on 23/3 revealed the incident at the intersection of a local road and the Bac - Nam railway line in Hamlet 8, Phuc Trach commune (formerly part of Huong Khe district). Warning lights were activated, the barrier was down, and multiple vehicles had stopped, awaiting the train.
Despite the activated warnings, the two female students, riding an electric bicycle, maneuvered through a gap in the barrier. They crossed the tracks, disregarding the train's continuous horn. Moments later, the train passed through the area at high speed.
The incident caused concern among witnesses, who viewed the action as a serious accident risk. A driver subsequently extracted their dashcam footage and shared it on social media.
Phuc Trach communal police noted that while the intersection features warning lights and automatic barriers, the barrier arms only partially cover the road. The police unit plans to recommend that the railway industry address this issue to improve safety.
