Party General Secretary and President: 'Da Nang needs to become a new growth pole'

Party General Secretary and President To Lam expects Da Nang to leverage its strategic position to lead the development of the Central region and become a crucial growth driver for the entire country.

Party General Secretary and President To Lam urged Da Nang to become a new growth pole, leading regional development and serving as a crucial national driver. This directive came during a 25/4 meeting with the Da Nang Party Committee Standing Board, where he reviewed resolution implementation and discussed future development orientations.

During his guiding remarks, President To Lam highlighted Da Nang's critical economic, political, defense, and foreign affairs significance. The city functions as a central hub for the Central region, a gateway to the sea for the Central Highlands, and a key link on the East-West economic corridor.

Given these advantages, leaders of the Party and State called for the city to accurately assess its current situation and identify key priorities for clear progress. "Da Nang is expected to become a new growth pole, playing a leading role in the development of the region and the entire country," the Party General Secretary and President said.

According to President To Lam, as the country enters a new development phase, Da Nang must effectively implement administrative unit reorganization, structure local governments at all levels, and achieve the goals outlined in the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress.

"The Central Government has issued many important policies for Da Nang, so the requirement is to accurately assess the current situation, clearly define priorities, and propose specific solutions to create clear progress in the coming period," the Party General Secretary and President stated.

City leaders reported significant progress at the meeting. In 2025, Da Nang's gross regional domestic product (GRDP) grew by 9.18%, surpassing its target. Budget revenue exceeded 63,600 billion VND, 25.4% above the estimate. This recovery continued into Q1/2026, with GRDP growth reaching 8.45%.

Da Nang has also advanced digital transformation, connecting digital infrastructure to 100% of its communes and wards, fostering an innovation ecosystem, and attracting investment in high-tech sectors.

In governance, the city completed organizational restructuring and implemented a clear two-tier local government model with defined decentralization and authorization. Anti-corruption efforts have been intensified, resolving many pending cases.

Looking ahead, Da Nang is committed to achieving consistent double-digit economic growth, with services as the pillar and industry and construction as key drivers. The city will continue to refine its two-tier government model, ensuring effective decentralization and authorization, and enhancing human resource quality.

City leaders also urged the Central Government to further refine specific mechanisms and policies. A swift resolution to land and investment issues in pending projects is particularly sought to unleash resources and maximize the locality's potential.
