A 45-seat passenger bus overturned on Doc Cun slope, resulting in one death and one injury on the afternoon of 5/8.

Around 2:45 p.m., a Tung Lam passenger bus operating on the Hai Phong - Phu Tho route and traveling towards Hanoi overturned near the bottom of Doc Cun slope in Thong Nhat ward, Phu Tho province. There were 8 passengers on board.

Local residents rushed to assist, searching for trapped passengers and helping the injured. Some suffered head and limb injuries, including a woman who was unresponsive when extracted from the overturned bus.

According to a representative from the Traffic Police Department, the initial investigation suggests brake failure as the cause of the accident. The driver, who tested negative for alcohol and drugs, is undergoing further testing.

The 7 km-long Doc Cun slope, located on National Highway 6 in Phu Tho province (formerly Hoa Binh province), is known as the "death slope" due to its 10 sharp turns, with a mountainside on one side and a deep abyss on the other. Numerous accidents, primarily involving overturned vehicles, have occurred on Doc Cun.
