The wallet was found by Remains Collection Team No. 1, under the Gia Lai Provincial Military Command, during the excavation of a grave at My Hiep Martyrs' Cemetery, Dai An hamlet, Phu My Nam commune, on 8/8, for DNA sample collection.

The photographs had faded over time. After restoration, one photo showed a man in military uniform wearing a pith helmet, another depicted a young woman, and the remaining one captured two children sitting together.

According to the personnel on duty, the individuals in the photographs may be relatives of the fallen soldier. The search team plans to publicize the images to locate family members, aiding in the identification of the martyr.

This collection effort is part of the "500 Days and Nights" Campaign, which aims to accelerate the search for and identification of martyrs' remains, leading up to the 80th anniversary of Invalids and Martyrs' Day on 27/7/2027.

Gia Lai province has 119 martyrs' cemeteries containing over 41,000 graves, with nearly 11,600 of these remaining unidentified across 113 cemeteries. By the end of July, units had excavated 2,860 graves at 19 cemeteries and submitted 1,566 eligible samples to the Military Forensic Institute (Ministry of National Defense) for DNA testing.
