The Traffic Police Department, Ministry of Public Security, announced on 8/8 that it is calling on individuals whose vehicles were damaged on the Da Nang - Quy Nhon expressway. The incidents occurred between 0:30 and 12:00 on 6/8, and affected owners are urged to provide information to ensure their legal rights.

To facilitate this, vehicle owners should provide their full name, phone number, contact address, license plate number, vehicle type, driver's information, and the time and location of the incident. Documentation of damages may include: rescue and repair costs, tire and spare part replacement expenses, along with relevant images, videos, dashcam data, GPS records, and invoices.

Expressway management units, transport companies, and rescue and repair facilities that assisted damaged vehicles during the specified period are also requested to cooperate by providing information.

The incidents came to light on the morning of 6/8 when police patrols discovered numerous sharp metal fragments on the surfaces of several expressways, including Da Nang - Quang Ngai, Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon, Hoai Nhon - Quy Nhon, Quy Nhon - Chi Thanh, and Chi Thanh - Van Phong. Over 100 vehicles sustained punctured or damaged tires after encountering this debris. Authorities subsequently collected the scattered material across approximately 337 km of the expressway network.

During the initial investigation, Highway Traffic Police Teams 5 and 6 identified a Thanh Hoa-registered tractor-trailer as the source of the debris. The truck was transporting industrial waste and scrap materials from Thanh Hoa to TP HCM. The cargo reportedly fell from the vehicle onto the road, spanning from approximately km 65 of the Da Nang - Quang Ngai expressway to km 1325 of the Chi Thanh - Van Phong expressway.

Initial verification revealed that the driver committed multiple violations, including: allowing cargo to spill, operating without a driver's license, using a mobile phone while driving, not wearing a seatbelt, and not using a driver identification card.

Competent authorities are currently working to clarify the responsibilities of the driver, the vehicle owner, and any other related organizations or individuals involved in the incident.
