Phu Quoc authorities mobilized nearly 10 excavators and bulldozers to clear the land, dismantle temporary structures, and erect a 6-km-long, 2-meter-high fence in the Suoi May and Duong To neighborhoods. The 120 hectares of enclosed land will be surveyed by specialists to determine boundaries and address administrative violations.

Relevant agencies are tasked with educating residents about the project's purpose and significance. Phu Quoc police will maintain order and address any obstructive actions.
This action follows an investigation that led to the arrest of seven individuals for encroaching on airport land and fraudulently selling it, resulting in over 10 billion VND in losses.
Located in Duong To commune, Phu Quoc airport has been operational since 2012 and is vital for tourism on the island. A renovation project is underway to increase capacity to 20 million passengers annually, with completion expected before Quarter II/2027. This project aims to serve both APEC 2027 and Phu Quoc's tourism and economic growth.
