The government office announced on 12/8 the prime minister's conclusion after inspecting the project's progress. All bid packages and items, including telecommunications infrastructure, electricity, water supply and drainage, fuel supply, aprons, taxiways, internal airport transportation, landscaping, shopping areas, and restaurants, must meet standards and conditions for the inauguration by 19/12/2025.
Besides the schedule, the prime minister emphasized quality assurance, aesthetics, and environmental protection. Airport operation and exploitation projects must adhere to standards and procedures. Due to the significant remaining workload, especially high-tech equipment installation and flight operations, the prime minister stressed the need for "high determination, great effort, and decisive action, completing each task thoroughly."

According to the government leader, the project's early completion will affirm the capabilities of the Ministry of Construction, Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), management boards, investors, contractors, and consulting units. It will enhance investment efficiency, create jobs and livelihoods for people, and boost local growth, demonstrating that "nothing is impossible" with determination, unity, and coordination.
The prime minister requested synchronization between the inauguration and ensuring smooth traffic connections between Long Thanh airport and road and railway routes. The Ministry of Finance was asked to research investment in a logistics area and a free trade zone. The Ministry of Construction and ACV were asked to propose the construction of a third runway.
Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai province were assigned to immediately research a metro line connecting Tan Son Nhat airport with Long Thanh, and report to the prime minister in August to seek approval.
The Long Thanh airport project covers a total area of 5,000 hectares, with a total investment of nearly 336,630 billion VND. It is a national key project. Although the National Assembly agreed to extend the completion deadline for phase one to the end of 2026, the prime minister has repeatedly requested that all parties make every effort to overcome difficulties and avoid delays.
