Ride-share driver crashes into traffic police post to escape passenger's erratic behavior

On the morning of 8/8, a 59-year-old ride-share driver swerved into a traffic police post seeking help after his passenger began exhibiting erratic and threatening behavior.

Around 9 a.m., the driver picked up a male passenger from My Khe 3 Hotel on Nguyen Van Thoai Street in Son Tra Ward. The passenger's destination was Nguyen Van Linh Street. However, as soon as he entered the vehicle, the man's behavior became concerning. He spoke aggressively and made repeated threats.

Upon reaching the requested destination, the passenger refused to exit the vehicle and demanded to be taken to the Da Nang Central Bus Station. Sensing danger, the driver complied while looking for an opportunity to escape. When he reached Nguyen Tri Phuong Street in Thanh Khe District, he spotted officers from Traffic Police Unit 1. He immediately swerved his vehicle into the traffic police post, jumped out, and asked for help.

At the time of his arrest, the man displayed signs of erratic behavior and appeared to be experiencing a psychotic episode. Authorities transported him to the Da Nang Psychiatric Hospital for treatment, drug testing, and further legal processing.
