Roof fire engulfs five adjacent homes in Hanoi, sending plumes of smoke skyward

The roofs of five adjacent houses on Le Trong Tan street caught fire on the afternoon of 28/12, with thick smoke billowing across the area.

The fire began around 5 p.m. from the roof of one of the adjacent houses in Zone C of the Geleximco urban area, located on Le Trong Tan street in Duong Noi ward.

The blaze rapidly spread to the entire roofs of four other houses situated next door.

As the fire intensified, it erupted fiercely, creating a black smoke column dozens of meters high, alarming many onlookers.

According to witnesses, only one house had occupants inside when the fire started, and all managed to escape in time. The other houses, which also operated as businesses, were closed for the weekend.

About 10 minutes after the fire ignited, Fire Prevention, Fighting, and Rescue Police Team No. 15 arrived at the scene with four fire trucks and dozens of firefighters.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control after 30 minutes. By 6:30 p.m., firefighting operations were completed, and police then entered the premises to investigate the cause.

The fire caused no human casualties, but the roofs of the five houses were destroyed. The burnt roof structure, made of iron frames, extended over the roofs of the houses, covering an area of over one hundred square meters.
