Sanitation worker finds bag with over 1.4 billion VND while sweeping

While sweeping Tran Phu street in Hac Thanh ward, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet discovered a handbag containing cash and a savings book worth over 1.4 billion VND, then reported it to police to find the owner.

On 5/2, while cleaning and collecting trash on Tran Phu street in Hac Thanh ward, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet, a worker for Thanh Hoa Urban Environment and Public Works Joint Stock Company, discovered a forgotten handbag by the roadside.

Inside, Ms. Tuyet found 40 million VND in cash and a savings book worth 1.4 billion VND, registered under Ms. Le Thi Lan, who resides in the same Hac Thanh ward.

Ms. Tuyet reported the find to Dong Quang ward police, requesting assistance to verify and return the property to its owner. Through verification, the police confirmed the property belonged to Ms. Le Thi Lan and had been dropped by Ms. Vuong Linh Dan, who was authorized to withdraw money from the bank and lost it on her way home.

Approximately 5 hours after the loss, Ms. Linh Dan completed procedures with Dong Quang ward police and Ms. Tuyet to reclaim all the cash and the savings book.

Ms. Linh Dan expressed her gratitude for the sanitation worker's honest and responsible actions. Local authorities later commended Ms. Tuyet for her good deed.
