On 24/7, Road Management Zone IV (under the Vietnam Road Administration, Ministry of Transport) announced that the repairs aim to ensure traffic safety and enhance the operational efficiency of the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong expressway.
The repair work includes raising curbs, replacing expansion joints, and replacing guardrails at 13 locations in Long An and Tien Giang provinces. The total cost is estimated at 4.8 billion VND. Construction began in mid-June and is expected to be completed by mid-September.

During the construction period, sections of the road at the repair sites will be partially closed off, and vehicles passing through the area are warned to reduce their speed. The management unit had previously issued a widespread announcement to allow drivers to plan their routes accordingly.
In recent days, traffic through the barricaded areas has slowed, resulting in localized congestion during peak hours and weekends. Authorities have implemented traffic diversions from a distance, directing vehicles towards National Highway 1 to alleviate pressure on the expressway.
The Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong expressway spans over 60 km, with 4 lanes and 2 emergency lanes. It has been in operation since 2011. Since tolls were discontinued in 2019, traffic volume has increased by 30%, currently reaching over 50,000 vehicles per day. Congestion and accidents are frequent occurrences.
In August, the expressway is scheduled to be expanded to 6-8 lanes to increase connectivity between Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta provinces.
Earlier, in mid-July, a section of the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway was also closed for repairs for 30 days.
