The National Assembly has elected six new vice chairpersons to lead the legislative body for the 2026-2031 term, following a resolution passed on the afternoon of 6/4. These appointments are crucial for strengthening the National Assembly's leadership.
Do Van Chien, 64, an agricultural engineer of San Diu ethnicity from Tuyen Quang, has been elected Vice Chairperson of the National Assembly. His extensive political career includes serving as a Politburo member for the 13th and 14th tenures, a Party Central Committee member for four tenures (11th to 14th), and an alternate member for the 10th tenure. He has also been a National Assembly delegate for four tenures, from the 13th to 16th.

Chien's career highlights include leadership roles as Chairman of the Tuyen Quang Provincial People's Committee, Secretary of the Yen Bai Provincial Party Committee, Deputy Minister, and then Minister-Chairman of the Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs. In 2021, he was elected to the Party Central Committee Secretariat and became President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, later joining the 13th Politburo. He has served as Permanent Vice Chairperson of the National Assembly since 11/2025.
Nguyen Thi Thanh, 59, from Ninh Binh, holds a Master's degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor's degree in Law. She is a Party Central Committee member for three tenures (12th to 14th) and an alternate member for the 11th tenure. She has also served as a National Assembly delegate for four tenures, from the 13th to 16th.

Thanh's prior roles include Secretary of the Ninh Binh Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Committee for Delegate Affairs, and Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee's Organization Commission. She was elected Vice Chairperson of the National Assembly in 6/2024.
Nguyen Khac Dinh, 62, from Hung Yen, holds a Doctor of Law and a Master of Economic Law. He is a Party Central Committee member for three tenures (12th to 14th) and a National Assembly delegate for three tenures, from the 14th to 16th.

Dinh worked at the Government Office before becoming Chairman of the National Assembly's Law Committee. In 2020, he served as Secretary of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee and was elected Vice Chairperson of the National Assembly in 4/2021.
Nguyen Hong Dien, 61, from Hung Yen, holds a Doctor of Public Administration and a Bachelor's degree in Economics. He is a Party Central Committee member for three tenures (12th to 14th) and a National Assembly delegate for three tenures, from the 14th to 16th.

Dien's past positions include Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and Secretary of the Thai Binh Provincial Party Committee. In 4/2021, the National Assembly approved his appointment as Minister of Industry and Trade. In late 2025, the Politburo assigned him to serve as Standing Deputy Secretary of the National Assembly's Party Committee.
Nguyen Doan Anh, 59, from Hanoi, is a Party Central Committee member for the 13th and 14th tenures. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Combined Arms Command and a senior specialization in Military Science.

He previously served as Deputy Commander and Commander of the Hanoi Capital Command, and Commander of Military Region 4. In 11/2022, he became Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army and was promoted to Senior Lieutenant General on 20/10/2024. In late 2024, the Politburo assigned and appointed him as Secretary of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term.
Nguyen Thi Hong, 58, from Hanoi, holds a Master's degree in Development Economics. She is a Party Central Committee member for the 13th and 14th tenures and a National Assembly delegate for the 16th tenure.

Hong had a long career at the State Bank of Vietnam, serving as Director General of the Monetary Policy Department and Deputy Governor. She has been Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam since 8/2020.
The outgoing Vice Chairpersons of the 15th National Assembly include Nguyen Duc Hai, Tran Quang Phuong, Vu Hong Thanh, and Le Minh Hoan.
